u Develop preliminary engineering designs. Prepare cost estimates & budgeting, performance work statements and
specifications for existing and proposed facilities. Perform simple load calculations for horizontal and vertical
construction. Act as liaison between design, review, construction and using agencies to interpret and explain engineer
regulations, policies and procedures.
u Conduct technical studies and prepare clear, concise and accurate engineering reports, correspondence and other
written materials. Make field visits to verify conditions and investigate engineering problems.
u Research and prepare moderately complex engineering presentation materials; attend meetings, gather information
from other sources; apply standard engineering principles and procedures; assist in the development of
recommendations.
u Perform contract management duties. Manage & inspect construction and maintenance contracts. Interpret plans,
specifications, and other contract documents. Coordinate, evaluate, monitor, and document contract activities and
progress. Prepare recommendations for contract modifications. Review material submittals and evaluate procedures for
compliance with contract specifications. Conduct pre-final, acceptance, and post acceptance inspections.
u Conducting Construction Materials Testing at the Lab and Field based on ASTM Standards. Familiar with geotechnical
Soil Investigation information and Comprehend Asphalt, Soil and concrete materials collection, records and test data.
u Conduct visual inspection on reconnaissance, site location, construction and mapping surveys of predefined
construction and reading/interpretation of utility maps to determine the presence of utilities and additional GPS data
collection.
u Make difficult mathematical calculations and utilize information from notes, maps, and plats to perform accurate
surveys. Apply basic practices of land, boundary, and construction surveying & Prepare accurate, detailed field notes
and schematic drawings of information gathered Operate different electronic detection equipment to locate and mark
underground facilities within prescribed accuracy limits. Marks/Identifies utilities with flags, brushes, stakes, ribbon and
spray paint as it applies.
u Collect, convert, and present field survey data for civil engineering projects by performing surveying duties using the
latest Trimble products; Utilize related equipment such as auto-levels, electronic base total stations, rover receiver,
distance meter, controllers, pipe locator & other related resource instrument/survey grade GPS equipment to exaction
accuracy & precision in order to complete surveys.
u Utilize ESRI Software to direct and execute geotechnical project assignments. Produce installation maps using
Geographic Information System interface. Create and maintain spatial, tabular and metadata to national standards.
Combine disparate datasets from various organizations, with various projections and precisions.
u Develop query routines for end-user applications. Maintain GIS Data Operations to the upmost standards of accuracy
and credibility.
u Disciplined in mapping principles and electronic digitization methods/practices in order development and manage of
automated map libraries.
u Maintains, edits and creates informational map layers; maintains, updates and creates digital base map of county;
updates map features through electronic digitization; integrates new data sets into the system; collects data and enters
into computer databases; creates various plots and data sets for users; provides spatial analysis of data sets; assists in the
development and management of automated map libraries and data dictionaries; assists in developing analytical
procedures and custom command menus.
u Perform drafting duties using the latest version of AutoCAD. Interpret rough engineering sketches to produce working
topographical base map drawings & map layers using CAD techniques and standards. Plot, prepare, reproduce and
check architectural, structural, civil, mechanical, and electrical drawings.
u Rapidly learn and master varied computer programs in support Modern developments, current literature and sources of
information regarding civil engineering. AutoCAD, GIS, Microsoft Office Suite, word processing and spreadsheet
applications programs and database Management techniques.
